Talking to the darkness

Whats new whats news

Green and Gothic has a new ipadio blog. I am still not happy as it does not work as smoothly as I would like. It should be like youtube and come up as an embedded visual that you just click on. This is something I will have to work on, it might work if it is added to the blog in a different way.

We have been working on the Ning network at college and come up with more logon problems. We have to change our password about every term. We are making our special needs student change passwords. Change passwords what a joke they don’t know their passwords we write them on their badges. College does not enable students with computers they restrict them. This is sometimes compounded for the students as they do not have access to a computer at home. Today I have also realised that the college is changing internet systems in the holiday. How is this going to effect students who we are training to keep in touch with each other via Ning. I will have to investigate…………

  1. Hi
Thanks for the comments. As to the point about access issues/ affordability for the US students who had their computer labs removed, the original article said that only 4 didn’t have their own PCs when they arrived (not sure how many had laptops & how many PCs). However, from other reading, I think that it’s a Private University (which are much more common in the US than here) – and so I guess making a computer a requirement is something they can do (I know quite a few [private] US unis do)
Students online in lectures – … well, not sure that having/not having labs makes a difference – they’re either using their laptops in class [and then online or not as the case may be] or they aren’t using them.
I’ve just copied this from my blog, in case you don’t get back to it!
